Places for Culture – Caring for Country
is a living project of deep listening, restoration, and cultural reconnection. Rooted in respect for Country and guided by First Nations wisdom, it weaves art, native gardens, ceremonial totems, and shared storytelling into sacred spaces where community and ecology heal together. From creeklines to ridge tops, each place holds a spirit of learning—where Elders, artists, and young ones co-create paths of care, knowledge, and belonging. It’s more than conservation; it’s a movement of cultural remembrance and future dreaming—where the land itself becomes the teacher, the healer, and the honoured ancestor.
🌿 Totem Gardens: A Living Invitation to Care for Country
“Here’s your invitation to begin.”
At Places for Culture – Caring for Country, we’re planting the seeds of a movement—one that invites people to reconnect with the land they live on through totem poles, native gardens, and shared cultural knowledge.
🪵 Totem Poles as Message Sticks
Each totem pole is a personal and ecological story—a carved and painted message stick that reflects:
A totem animal or plant that lives on your land—or once did, and is being welcomed home
A design collaboration between you and our team, with guidance in carving, painting, and storytelling
A QR code embedded in the pole, linking to the Places for Culture – Caring for Country website, where your story lives alongside others
🌱 Native Gardens of Connection
Around each pole, a garden of native bush tucker, bush medicine, and bush floristry grows:
Plants chosen for their ecological role, cultural significance, and local relevance
Labels in both Indigenous and non-Indigenous languages, honouring the knowledge systems of the land
A space for wildlife corridors—welcoming birds, bees, and beings back into harmony with humans
